Hail to the Prophet

As everyone knows, President Hinckley passed away Sunday night. While we were getting the kids ready for bed, my mom called to tell us the news. Tyler then came in the kitchen and told me that President Hinckley died, and for a split second I didn't believe him. I was a little shocked, but then I was happy for him--thinking of the better life he is experiencing with his wife and loved ones in heaven, knowing that his work is done on earth, and feeling at peace because he lived a good life. I love how he always encouraged us to be better. I like this quote: "Let us all try to stand a little taller, rise a little higher, be a little better." He helped me remember that there's always room for improvement.

When I told Whitney that President Hinckley died this was our conversation:

Whitney, guess who died?
(gasp!) Who?
The prophet, President Hinckley!
Oh, good.....not Grandma Nelson?
(stunned) Uh, no... ?
That's right, 'cause Grandma's not old yet, right?
Right, Whitney... But now we're going to have a new prophet, President Monson.
That's COOL!!!

Oh man, I think we need to do that FHE lesson on respecting leaders again.

My kids had a similar reaction. When they found out it was President Hinckley and not the baby in mommy's tummy that had died, they were relieved. (I just keep telling myself it's developmental!)

That is hilarious Nats. So cute. I love that she was worried it might be Grandma Nelson. Awesome. Too funny!
