Tag, I'm it

This is my first time being tagged, so bear with me. My friend Cindy tagged me and now I have to write 7 "little known" things about me. Let me think.... hard....

1) I'm a terrible speller. My mom told me she'd give me $100 if I won the spelling bee in 3rd grade. That's a lot of money to a third grader! I studied hard for that thing, but I didn't make it very far. I think I misspelled valley. Embarrassing, huh? Thankfully I use Mozilla Firefox as my web browser and it has an automatic spell check on it.

2) I may not be able to spell, but I love grammar. Tyler and I took a business writing class in college, and we learned a lot of great things. I don't claim to be an expert by any means, but I do think there are a few simple rules that we should all know like: your & you're; too, two & to; there, their, & they're, and how to use an apostrophe. I like editing Tyler's papers when he asks for help. I wish I could be an editor, but I have no English credentials and I can't spell!

3) I lived in Guatemala for about 5 months. Tyler flew down, surprised me, and proposed. Anyway, the surprise in Guatemala was the shock of my life to say the least. He proposed on a Friday afternoon and we didn't call anyone back home to tell them we were engaged till Sunday night. It was the best!

4) In general, I'm not a perfectionist. I enjoy cooking and doing crafts and projects, but I don't get too bent out of shape when a seam isn't straight or a meal isn't perfect.

5) Because of #4, I have a pretty high tolerance for messes. I enjoy a tidy home, but I only like to clean when necessary. I dust when I see dust. I mop after peanut butter has been on my floor. I vacuum when there are crumbs on the carpet (which is actually pretty often.) Anyway, I'm not one of those people who cleans for the joy of cleaning. I'd rather spend my time playing trains with Cole, staring at the baby, making cookies (a mess) with Whitney, or talking with Tyler.

6) In high school, I worked for a small internet company. I thought I was at the top of my game making web pages. In 1996 we had to use raw HTML in Notepad. The web pages turned out being pretty lame, but making internet sites was a skill not many people had. Now I'm back in the web page saddle using blogger and I feel like I've lost all my computer skills. I have the most boring blog on Blogger, but if this were 1996 I would have the coolest one, I swear! :)

7) I am a DEEP sleeper. Tyler is a lighter sleeper and always hears the baby first. After a few nights of not remembering when I had fed my newborn Cole, I put a notepad on my nightstand with the intention of writing down the hours when he ate. When I woke up the next morning, I had written in illegible chicken scratch, "Rice, milk, eggs"--a grocery list. No recollection of writing those things or feeding my child. Scary!

If your last name starts with a W and you're on my list of blogging friends, then I tag you! You know who you are! :) (And Heidi, if you ever get a blog, then this means YOU too!)

OK, I'll get right on it. I'm right there with ya on not cleaning for the joy of cleaning. I'm a cluttered kind of person and I'm totally ok with it!

Fun to read.

I'm so glad to hear about your "tolerance for messes!" I pick up a lot all day but my house is still messy then people come over & give me weird looks & I think... Geeze people, give it a break! It's only going to get messier...believe me!!
