I'm Venom!

Tyler took this picture after a ward get-together at the park. If only you could see his filthy hands, black feet, and urinated-in shorts. So homeless-looking, but so cute...well, to me at least.

The playground structure was kind of a distance away from the parents, so after a while, I went to check on Cole and get a better look at him. His shoes were off and he was proclaiming to all the Kindergarteners (sp?) around him that he was VENOM. The 5-6 year olds were pretending to shoot him and throw fire at him and stuff as Cole just kept pretending to shoot back at them. It was such a sight to see. I loved that Cole was holding his own as a 2 year old against all these older guys. They were all playing in fun, and none of the kids were taking their shooting game too seriously. But I digress. Cole was having so much fun as Venom that he just decided to wet himself instead of stopping the fun to come have me help him find a restroom. Imagine that...a two year old who wants to play more than go potty! ;) It was his first accident in months (and hopefully his last).

I let Whitney and Cole do some coloring while I got in the shower the other day. I came out and found this:
Black marker all over his mouth, hands, and the table. Grrrrr. When I asked him (under my breath and out of frustration), "What are you doing?!?!" He replied, "I'm Venom, Mom!" Did I mention that Cole has never seen Venom except for 1 pair of underwear he owns and the handful of venom stickers in his Spiderman sticker book?

Too bad it wasn't washable, but thankfully it wasn't permanent. Looking back now, I can laugh at this picture. I love the contrast of his teeth against that black marker. Freaky little kid!

What an imagination that boy has! And by the way, I'm impressed he's potty trained at all! (I'm still not there with my guy.)

Boys are funny that way. They pick up on the craziest aspects of entertainment. When Nate was about Cole's age, I caught him chewing his PB&J into the shape of a gun and making shooting noises with his lunch. At the time, I SWEAR he had never seen a movie with guns, but somehow it was just wired into his DNA!

If I had a nickel, I would have thrown it his way. What a charming little homeless-like man boy he is! I adore creative children like him! So glad you were able to snap a picture of his marker face, it made my life. It is one of the funniest and best pictures I've ever seen!

I love that you always comment on my blog, so I am going to start commenting on people's blogs. I have to say, this little guy is one of the funniest kids I have ever met! He is so full of fun and mischief-exactly what a child should be.

That is great! I didn't even know who Venom was! But, I love that he has such a great imagination and how you find joy in the situation -no matter if it took a bit :)

I'm laughing just imagining Cole taking on the 5-6 year olds as Venom. That's the best. And, I love both pictures. Talk about pure boy. Love that about him - and love that you let him be. You're the cutest Mommy around.
