Catching up

So here I am at the end of May, with some highlights to share from April's Spring break:

4/15: I took the kids to a local Tea Party to show our non-support of the overspending of government (both parties). I had a great time. This picture was taken about 15 minutes before the event started. I was "parked" on the very back row so I could have an easy escape in case the kids got rowdy. After a while, the kids were growing restless, tired, and hungry (I didn't pack a lunch like other smart parents around me) so I left. But leaving was not as easy as I had anticipated because the crowd had grown to about 7 rows of people behind me! Even though we were making a scene with our exit, I was still happy we went.

April 16th: Took the kids to the park for a picnic. They were in heaven. I've got to remember to do that more often. Whitney was impressing me with her maneuvering on the monkey bar rings!

April 13-16th: Whitney & Cole had swimming lessons during what felt like the coldest and windiest week in our city's history! But the weather didn't deter the kids at all; thankfully the pool was heated. They had a blast, loved their teachers, and are hoping to take some more lessons this summer. Cole's teacher would sometimes spike his hair in the pool, as seen in the top left picture.

April 25th: My sister threw a darling 5th birthday party for my niece, Lauren. Heidi & I made the aprons for the party, and we were happy with how they turned out. It was during this sewing experiment that I had the epiphany that the purpose of sewing is not always to save money, but it's to get the results that you want. (Duh!) Heidi had searched high and low to find the aprons that she wanted, but she just couldn't find them. So we got together and made these cherry ones for the girls and some simple dishtowel ones for the boys. We had a great time figuring out this project together!

Tyler & I just got back from a long vacation... hence, the lack of blogging. More updates to come, I hope. Just had to post these things before my memory lapses!

Way to go, seamstress! Those cherry aprons are so adorable. I wanted to tell you again how much we appreciated you guys dropping by when you were out here. I know it was a stressful day for you already with all the traveling, but it was such a delight to see your sweet family and I am so glad we keep in touch. Love ya.

Cute aprons!!

I wish I could have gone to the TEA party. We couldn't find one at the right time in the town we happened to be in on 4/15. Are you going to do it again on 7/4?

Garrett's mom would be so proud of you for going to the tea party! She really wants us to go with her to the next one. Your aprons are adorable! Very good sewing! And your kids look so cute swimming! My girls are doing swim in Utah this summer and they can't wait. Wish we lived closer!

Those aprons are so cute! Impressive sewing skills. I am sad I did not pull my camera out when you visited - I totally forgot! It was sure great to see you and now you have to come to Texas for the wedding cause I didn't get enough!
