Here are some highlights from January...
Annie is not allowed to play with Cole's Batcave, so she came up with her own playhouse. I had to clean out my storage pantry so badly the other day, so I took a quick picture before I destroyed Annie's creation:
I think I counted 18 different toys in there. After she ate her dinner, she came to play with her toys in the food storage. When she saw that everything was cleaned out she said, "HEY MOM! Where are my toys?!" When I told her they were in her room because I was trying to organize the pantry, she was so sad and said, "DAT'S A NO-NO! YOU SAY FWORRY MOM!!" (fworry = sorry)
We started up a new tradition for our family in 2010--Friday movie nights. We got the idea from my sister who got the idea from my dad, and the kids LOVE it. The kids love unwinding at the end of the week with a good movie and some homemade pizza. Here were their creations one night:
I made a simple pizza that week: basil, tomato, and cheese. Tyler gawked at my creation (because it lacked hearty amounts of meat), but I loved it!We started up a new tradition for our family in 2010--Friday movie nights. Whitney loves dressing up Annie. She is quite the beautician: putting on makeup, stick-on earrings, and even painting Annie's nails.
Annie made the move to a big girl bed in January. By February, we moved her to the top bunk, and she has done great up there!
I caught Annie & Cole being scared during Sleeping Beauty one day. They were cracking me up:
We took the kids up to see some REAL snow, and they were in heaven. (Don't tell them it was slush...)
I don't know which scene was more Californian:
A) Our kids in mere jackets and thin pants with no beanies, scarves, or gloves to protect them from the elements.
OR
B) The other kids we saw on the mountain who were completely DECKED OUT in snowbunny outfits looking like they were ready to hit the slopes in Colorado. I'm talking snow boots, coordinating snow pants & jackets, and scarves... just to play in the slush.
And we couldn't leave the snow without bringing home a souvenir! (Those are pumpkin seeds and a craisin decorating our snowman, by the way.)
January was good to us!

Fun goings-on in your family! Where did you find all that snow? (How far did you guys have to go?)
Love Annie's cute personality!
Haha, luckily my kids haven't thought of playing with their toys in the pantry... yet! We started doing movie nights after we moved to Oregon in December. It's been fun (my kids were scared of Sleeping "booty" too!)
That picture of Cole and Annie watching Sleeping Beauty is classic. Love all of your pictures. And love that Annie stores her toys in the pantry. Such cute kids.
And, I may need to copy Friday movie night. Such a fun thing for the kids to look forward to.
xoxo
The picture of Cole and Annie watching Sleeping Beauty cracks me up too! I wish you guys lived closer b/c your kids are just too cute--I want to spend lots of time with them.
You all sound like you are having a great time!! I love the picture of the kids scared of the movie. I have seen that face many times at my house. Love the snowman!!
Oh my goodness, Natalie. Your children are so beautiful! I look forward to keeping up with you on your blog now!
That's crazy that you had all that slush out there! I loved the dresses the girls are wearing in that first picture. They are gorgeous girls! And we have started the moving thing this year too, with homemade pizza and all!
Looks like you guys had a great month! I love your pizza/movie night. Homemade pizza is my favorite thing to eat. We have it once a week here too! So easy and delicious! I can't believe how big Annie is...has it been that long since we have seen you guys? We want to get up that way soon...we'll let you know when!
Natalie, you are looking SO good, seriously, you wow me! I love that picture of Cole and Annie watching Sleeping Beauty. It's almost as good as Tyler's expression in that antenna snowman shot. =)
Fun! Thanks for the fun update! Love your new tradition of movie nights and homemade pizza. Good times. Love and miss you guys. Love, VA Nelsons
I can't believe how big your kids are getting, especially little Annie! I guess that's what happens in almost 2 years. :( They are so cute though. I love all the pictures of all the things you guys have been up to, and Happy Birthday to Tyler! Miss you guys!
