My sister-in-law, Danica, got me a subscription to Runner's World magazine for my birthday in December, and it has been the gift that keeps on giving. I think of her whenever I get see an issue in my mailbox. :)
{Disclaimer: I'm not an elite runner like all the people in this magazine are, but I enjoy reading the articles and pretending like I can jog. And P.S.--Annie poked my stomach a few days ago and said in the most excited voice I've heard since Shannon was born: "Are you having another baby?!?!?!?!?" Nope Annie, that's not another baby... what you are poking is an accumulation of candy from Halloween to Easter that mommy needs to burn off.}
Anyway, back to what I found inspiring... This month's issue (May 2012), has the neatest story about a running mother.
This lady, Erin Henderson, and her husband had 3 boys. They wanted a girl, so they went to Vietnam to adopt a baby. When they got there, they saw how there were 2 babies per crib and how many children were in need of a home. It changed their lives, and over the years, their family grew to adopt more children --12 kids in all!-- and many of them have special needs.
Long story short, Erin began running in 2008 when she had 11 kids, and she has since turned into an avid racer. My favorite part of the article was this: Henderson logs 75 miles per week by running at 5am every day, even when the alarm on Noah's feeding pump goes off several times in the night. "I just found I'm going to be tired either way, and I feel much better if I get the run in," she says.
That hit me so hard! I find every excuse in the book to avoid getting up to exercise at 5am. And here this lady has 12+ great reasons to put her exercise schedule aside. I'm going to be tired either way... so true! May as well hit the pavement.
So inspiring to me!

Thanks for this! That was inspiring. I only have 2 reasons to be lazy and I sure milk them for all it's worth... I need to be better!
WOW! Just wow. Thanks for that Nats!
Ha! That is inspiring. And so true. I always feel better just getting up and getting it done rather than the extra 30 minutes I might sqeeze out of sleeping in!
And love that post on Shannon. What a darling. She is one ninja puzzle solver--and she's just 18 months!?! You are doing something right there Mrs. Nats!
I'm going to be tired anyway...maybe I can adopted that into my everyday decision making. Thanks for sharing this bit of inspiration.
