Roommate Reunion

My former roommate Ann came "to the colonies" for a visit. She's studying abroad--like major PHD work!--in England right now and we were delighted that she'd stop in for a visit. Since our other roommate SalliJune lives in so cal as well, the 3 of us got together!
For the past 3 months or so, my Annie has been trying to "speak British". She'll greet strangers with 'ello govena (Hello Governor), and loves to slip the words "wo-ta" (water) and "bye-bee" (baby) into any conversation.

So to have a REAL British person in the flesh in our home was such a treat. It was like we had a movie star in our home. Ann brought some yummy English candies, and my Annie was just fascinated with anything Ann had to say about England.
Ann even took time to talk a great English accent with Annie and teach her a couple of phrases. Annie now happily takes out our "rubbish bins" and I give Ann all the credit for that one. Who knew calling garbage cans "rubbish bins" would make the chore more glamorous?

Thanks for coming to visit us, Ann! :)

So glad I got to see all of you, hopefully the other vocabulary words I've sent will be similarly inspiring!

I saw when Ann posted this pic on FB and for some reason just thought she was putting up a really old photo. Fun that you got to reunite!
