The kids

It seems as if I haven't given the kids much blogging attention lately. And I'm pretty sure my mom doesn't read my blog unless there are new pictures of the kids... so here goes an update.

Whitney & Cole way back on the 4th... their first day of church in 2009.
Cole thinks Primary time is party time and is so full of energy--hardly anyone can catch him. We're working on it. He had a great week last week (relatively speaking), and I think he's going to keep doing well.

Whitney & Cole are really great partners in crime these days. If you look closely at the pictures above of Cole in his church clothes, you can see some pink splotches on his face. A few days before the pictures were taken, Whitney had taken a Valentine stamp and stamped "I love you" all over his face, neck, and back. Worst part was... it wasn't washable ink. Looking back, I probably should have taken some pictures of the Valentine stamps all over him, but at the time it was not funny--especially not funny trying to wash it off for 2 days afterward!

So then the next week, Whitney turned Cole into "Triangle Man." I left them at the table to eat their breakfast while I got ready to take Whitney to preschool, and 5, maybe 10 minutes later when I came back, I saw what Whitney had done:
It was funnier to me than "Valentine Boy" from the previous week, so I stopped to take a few pictures. What a hoot this kid is. I think he really thought he was the best new superhero in town, because he was not happy when it was time to wash off the glue and triangles.

And then the next week during Whitney & Cole's quiet time... this. Cole looks totally immodest here, but he had underwear on, I promise. They play this pretend game(?) where Cole is Spiderman and Whitney is MaryJane (sometimes she is Sleeping Beauty) and they "Celebrate the Royal Birth"... not sure where that came from, but they prance around the house decorating. Whitney usually tapes up a few signs, streamers, strings, or in this case--stickers, and then they pass around the fake baby doll and pretend to feed it with a baby spoon. These days I don't even ask, I just think, "Whatever keeps them quiet during Annie's nap..."

Speaking of Annie--Annie has not escaped the creative wrath of Whitney. Whitney used her makeup on Annie the other morning and turned her into a cat...I think. Annie's hair is such a mop right now! I swear she looks like a Zac Efron wannabe these days if I don't do something feminine with her hair! At the park dressed up in Whitney's old Dalmation outfit:
Annie is also at that fun age where she's obsessed with books. Whitney is the best helper and will read to her little sister any time of day. It's the greatest little thing! It's also fun for me to find Annie sitting up in her rocking chair after baths with her stack of books just flipping through them all by herself--"Just waiting for storytime, Mom...whenever you're ready!"
Annie is also becoming a more independent eater. It can be a real mess, of course. She loves her smoothies and isn't patient enough to drink out of the straw I give her. She recently discovered how to pull the lid off the cup to make it come out faster. She was pushing the cup so hard and fast to her face that she had some freaky Joker-looking red marks on her face afterward!
Oh man, you kids are lots of work, but I wouldn't trade you for anything!

Great update! Everyone is so cute. I love what a big helper Whitney is at decorating and reading to her siblings. Cole's head looks like it's healing nicely. And Annie is getting so big and I love her long hair. Give everyone big hugs from their Auntie Jenny in VA.

Bwa haha! Zac Effron! Totally!

You're kids are adorable, and like my own, probably more adorable in a blog entry, which is why we write them, so we smile instead of cry! You are such a great Mom to let your kids be creative and create all those wonderful memories that you know you will all look back on and laugh at. They really do grow up so fast.

They are adorable. Last night I scrub Jackson's hands with rubbing alcohol because he had found the super glue. Unfortunately I had no finger nail polish remover or other remover so we did a lot of scraping.

Nat, I can't take it! They are too stinkin' funny for words. Can I come hang out with them? Seriously. Hope all is great. Love to you and Ty.

I think you just summed it up PERFECTLY. They ARE so much work but soooo worth it. So stinking easy to love.

I can't wait for Colt and Cade to get old enough to really hang out/play together.

I love the picture of the triangles. That is so cute! Your kids are very creative, even if the cleaning up part isn't so fun. Isn't being a mom such an adventure!?

Oh Natalie. I love it. You have such a halarious perspective on life. Annie's "Joker looking red marks on her face"--I can just picture her devouring her smoothies. I love how you see the sweet humor of kids . . . and yours definitely are!

Natalie! Your kids are just so cute and I love how Whitney takes care of them. What a great big sister she is. It's fun looking at your posts and I'm so sorry it's been rough on your family with Tyler working so much. I can only imagine! You are amazing and I'm sure you'll look back at these years and wonder how you did it. I hope Tyler gets some sleep and you too! Your kids are adorable! Best of luck through the rest of Feburary while he's on a crazy schedule.

Love love LOVE how you bring out their creativity! LOVE how you say that Cole looks immodest but has underwear on (like wearing only underwear is modest). Hehe. His facial expressions crack me up - I don't have a mischievous boy but I sure get a kick out of seeing yours!

That is so funny! Your kids crack me up! I love how Whitney drew on Annie's face with her make-up. You must be a very patient mother! I would totally freak out!

It is so fun to see Annie doing the same things as McKinley. Ditto on doing the hair and on reading "bookahs" (she likes to really emphasize her k's).

Also ditto on the boys running around with little clothing on - they are not superheroes unless they are half dressed, why is that?

Whitney is fun to hear about as well cause we have not had a girl that age yet to decorate everything and everyone so creatively.

Lots of work - I agree. (Okay, and I would never trade for anything either)

Oh, man your kids are growing up too fast! I can't believe how much Cole looks like Tyler. And I think Annie's hair is absolutely adorable, Zac Effron and all!

That was a great post. I loved your preface that Momsha doesn't read unless it's about your adorable children. I got a good laugh out of those two little hoodlums. It will be fun to see what kinds of antics they can come up with once Annie can participate more. I love her hair. They're just so darn cute. You make life sound like so much fun!

It's crazy how dangerous kids can be when left unattended. Vance is into scissors right now. Even with the kid ones it can still be disasterous. Mimi colors on herself...thank goodness for washable markers. Hey I've got a good idea, why don't we put our kids together and see what kind of creative energy flows...just think of the possibilities! :)
