Did you see that first number?

Tyler officially became a 3rd year resident on July 1st, so now this means we are on the downhill! We had a great time at the annual graduation dinner in June where they celebrate the departing 4th year residents. We were almost giddy driving home talking about how we only have 2 more of those dinners left!! It's been an exciting journey so far. Here's a picture of Tyler with his co-residents:
They are smart, hard workers and we think the world of them. They will finish with Tyler in 2011.
This 3rd year comes with mixed emotions. I'm excited because Tyler has moved up a "rank" if you can really call it that. But I'm nervous at the same time. Tyler will spend a total of 8 months as the chief's right-hand man (4 months doing facial trauma and then 4 months moving jaws around). From what we've heard, those 8 months are long and relentless. Bummer. Nice knowin' ya Tyler.
I think it's safe to say that Tyler had a good father's day. Here's the classic breakfast-in-bed shot:

That's exciting for Tyler, for you and your kids that he's getting so close to being done. I know I'm counting down until Nolo's done with his MBA.
Glad to hear everything else is going well. Your kids are growing so fast, but still ever so cute.
Hooray for the light at the end of the tunnel! Very exciting.
I hope you're having a fun summer!
Yee-ha!! A year and a few days left . . . it's all down hill from here.
P.S. Bridget is sitting my lap while I type pointing at that picture of Annie and saying "what is she doing? I don't know. She always smells . . . shhhh"
Oh happy day! I need to get a ticker for Robb. He has less than one year of school left. Go Tyler!
Congratulations Tyler and Natalie! Thanks for the update. Good luck with the 3rd year and being the right hand man! Glad you had a good Father's Day breakfast in bed. How fun. It looks lke you guys got a new leather couch too. Things sound like they are going good for you guys. The kids are so cute -- we need to see more pictures of Natalie. We miss and love you guys.
Yay for the downhill! And if he ever needs a jaw to work on, mine is ready! :)
Such a cute family Nats...
YAY for being on the way down!! It's got to be great to be getting so much closer to being done for good! Woohoo!
Hopefully the light at the end of the tunnel will make those long days/weeks/months more bearable. Hopefully. Congrats to you guys. You're such great examples to us. Love you.
p.s. Nats, I keep forgetting to respond about the silly spinach smoothie. I just sort of eye ball and throw stuff in - usually a cup or two of strawberries or other berries, 1 banana, 1/2 cupish of vanilla yogurt, about 1 cup of spinach, some OJ, some water, some ice, sometimes a scoop of protein, a little vanilla and a little Splenda. I tried it with peaches once and it didn't disguise the color or taste of the spinach as well.
Hope that helps.
xoxo
I love your tickers and I have to say, before I even read this post I looked at it and thought, "wow, only a year and a little bit left. That went by fast!" Okay, so fast for me but I'm sure slow for you. And to think, Drew could be halfway through his residency at this point too if he would have decided to stay on that route.
You guys amaze me how well you keep it together under such extreme circumstances. Honestly, I don't know if your readers understand the venture you are embarked on but I'll just say it here, The Nelsons are an inspiration and truly amazing people! And I'm not just saying this because of what you are doing but how well you are doing it and keeping your life priorities straight in the process. Very few are able to do that.
