We couldn't be more excited to have our family expand. In case you haven't heard, Nelson baby #4 is due on September 25th! Annie will turn 3 on September 29th. (She was due on the 24th, so who knows when this baby will really come...) I've never had my youngest kid be 3 years old when a new baby has come home. What will I do? :)
We found out today that we are expecting a girl. We all (except for Annie) had our bets that it would be a boy--with Tyler coming from a family dominated by boys, we surely thought another boy was on the horizon. But I guess we have broken the mold! We are just thrilled for another precious girl to join the ranks. I think I better invest in some hair-braiding lessons and about a hundred more hair bows!

Whitney is beyond excited and has lots of questions. She had the boy name picked out as "Ryan Daniel." After I told her today that it'd actually be a girl she responded, "Okay! Now we can name her Lisa Kate!" Thanks Whitney, for being so decisive for us! When I asked her where she came up with these names, she told me that she just made up Ryan in her head, and she said that Daniel is from the prophet song at church (her class made a poster about Daniel & the lion's den). She explained that Lisa is a girl on the PBS show "Electric Company", and Kate is her friend's baby sister at our church.
Cole knows that there's a baby on the way and has been mostly uninterested in the whole process. His vote for a name has been "Cocoa Cheese-a-rito" (sounds like burrito) - a great name that works for both genders. (Sidenote: In my family, we grew up calling quesadillas "cheese-a-ritos". Anything wrapped up in a tortilla gets "a-rito" tacked on the end.) Other than the lovely Cocoa Cheese-a-rito name, Cole has also been telling me, "We don't tell people they're fat. We just say they have a baby in their tummy!" Nice.
We thought Annie was clueless about the whole baby idea, but she has surprised us! The other day we saw a teeny newborn in the elevator sitting in his car seat and Annie said, "Hi baby! How ya doing?" Then she grabbed the collar of my shirt (I was carrying her on my hip), and she yelled down my shirt, "Hey baby! When you coming out of mommy's tummy?" Annie loves talking to my gut. She has conversations like, "Are you happy, baby? ... Oh! Do you like milk, baby? ... When the baby cries, I give it the binky!!" She's very excited to meet her baby sister.
Here are some ultrasound pictures for those who like (and can decipher) these things...
September can't come soon enough!

You said something in a previous post that had me wondering - and a trip to Provo with Nana and Grampa confirmed it. I'm so excited for you! And how fun to have another little lover girl! Lisa Kate will be just lovely. Just make sure Nana approves of the name. he he.

How exciting for you guys! I love the things your kids have said. Entertaining!
Yippee for you! Girls are fun!!!
I think you should name her Rebekah :)
On a sidenote I was reading all of your fun comments from people and I noticed a Buchanan. I clicked on there name and I think they are related to my friends Jason and Ashley B. In Houston? How random is that?
Congratulations! That's so exciting! I remember well when you were pregnant with Annie and how cute you are pregnant. Baylee and Payton are 3 years apart, and I really like the age difference. They are old enough to understand, and to help a little. Can't wait to see pictures in September!
Congratulations! You are wonder woman, and I agree with previous comments that as many babies/kids in the world as possible should be blessed with you as their mom. What a lucky baby!
PS - that baby mullet is hilarious!
