Is it just me, or does Mother's Day seem to get better every year? There's something so nice about being showered with appreciation and love all day long.
Tyler was on call Mother's Day weekend. While he and Whitney were at the library on Saturday, he got paged and had to go into the hospital, so he brought Whitney along. That was her 2nd time to go in to work with Tyler, and she felt like a superstar. The lady that came into the hospital to get checked out gave Tyler a beautiful bouquet of flowers to say thank you for coming in on a weekend. Gift #1 - check!
On their way home from the hospital, they stopped and got gift #2:
It's just not a holiday around here without one of these big boys.
Sunday morning gift #3 greeted me while I was in the shower -- kids singing "Happy Mother's Day to You" while presenting scrambled egg whites with veggies, toast, OJ, and my favorite candies. Definitely a custom-made meal. Yum! I, of course, didn't eat my breakfast in the shower; I quickly got dressed and joined the fam at the table.
Gifts #4, 5 & 6 were coupon books by the kids (you can see in the picture below):
* 1 book of 10 "change of heart" coupons (I can redeem those coupons whenever the kids have bad attitudes and need an instant change--I'm guessing that was Cole's idea?)
* 1 book of 10 "I'll put the kids to bed for you" coupons (Whitney will get Cole & Annie's PJs on, brush their teeth, and read stories to them!)
* 1 book of trips around town for yogurt, donuts, and other things.
I remember giving my mom coupons as a kid, but she would never redeem them. You better believe I'm going to redeem every one of these puppies! ha ha ha. (evil witch laugh)
I actually redeemed one of my coupons tonight and had Whitney get Cole & Annie ready for bed. That girl is such a sweetheart. I loved hearing her help Annie put on her PJ shirt singing, "Put your hands up!" (from Beyonce's "Single Ladies"), and then doing "3-2-1 pants blast off!" to put Annie's PJ shorts on. To get the kids to brush their teeth, I heard her offering to put treats under good kids' pillows. What a hoot!
Another Mother's Day highlight was receiving a big paper bag full of letters from Whitney. She presented me the bag and asked me to read each letter out loud and show each picture to the family. I scanned them all in to preserve the memories and to draw on this well of love letters b/c occasionally I get dislike-letters from her too.
So next time she's ticked at me, I can just give her one of the change of heart coupons and then come to the computer and read one of her love letters. :) I think Mother's day is even better than my birthday.

Girl, you have got the GLOW of pregnancy! Seriously, you look gorgeous. Show us your cute belly too! Looks like a wonderful Mother's Day, thanks for sharing.
Sounds like you had a wonderful mothers day - you deserve it! It was fun to skype with you and your family on mother's day too! Great to "see" you and your cute family.
"You sparkle like a star, and you shine like a rose"??!! That is the most sincere, poetic, wonderful thing I've ever heard from a child!
That is a really cute picture of you and the kids. I love the letters that Whitney wrote. I like that she will love you even when she is an adult!!! What a treasure those letters are.
What a great Mother's Day! Those notes are hilarious and so worth keeping around! I loved the 3,2,1 pants off! Too too too funny! I also think the kids should have given me Change of heart coupons... only they would probably be cashing them in on my attitude... doh!
