June before I forget

Goodness. I can't believe I didn't post once in June. Doh! Here's what we've been up to:

Cole's preschool class took a trip to the local police station at the beginning of June. They had these cute mini statues of firemen & police officers. Too bad the kids weren't up for a photoshoot.
I couldn't resist comparing Cole to this picture of Tyler back in 1983. Aren't their expressions alike as they're holding their little lunchbags?

One day I caught Cole reading Annie's favorite princess book to her. Melted my heart.

We went to an A's game on June 9th with a group of friends. Always a blast when the tickets are $2 & the hot dogs are $1.

Whitney finished school on June 11th. She had a great year--started off with 2 teachers, Mrs. Annis & Mrs. Sullivan. However, Mrs. Sullivan had a baby in April, so Mrs. Annis finished up the year. I loved the way Mrs. Annis was all about positive reinforcement for the kids. Whitney would come home pretty much daily with a kind post-it note from her teacher telling her something good she did that day. I know Whitney had a kindergarten year full of learning and love from her teachers.
The picture on the right is of Whitney (one of the biggest kids in the class) with her friend, Jenna (probably the smallest kid in the class). They played together at recess a lot and Whitney would give her piggy back rides around the playground.

The week after school ended we started swimming lessons for Whitney and Cole. We used a swim school this year instead of our local pool's swim classes. What a difference! We were impressed with how well organized things were and how much the kids progressed in just 2 weeks.

Grandma & Grandpa Decker came in town that first week after school ended to watch my sister's kids. So, of course, we tagged along for all the fun times. Some highlights:

Super Frank's (like Chuck E Cheese) where Annie & Andrew played air hockey the whole time like they were big kids:
Watching Annie & Andrew ride around like Bonnie & Clyde:

Visiting the farm with piles of lettuce for the animals. They were on sale for 33 cents/head at the local grocery store, so we stocked up! Whitney fed them nicely, Cole hugged every animal he could get his hands on, and Annie lovingly harassed them.

Toy Story 3--We loved it!

And then we celebrated Father's Day... the kids got all ready for church and greeted Tyler with breakfast in bed.
Then Tyler hurriedly opened his gifts before running out the door for church. Yes, that is Christmas wrapping paper that we used, and Yes, the tool box is filled with candy.

One busy night in June Annie was so pooped that she fell asleep on the couch as Whitney read stories to her. Very out of character for our busy 2 year old, but this picture pretty much sums up how we have been crashing at the end of each day.

Hope you're enjoying your summer too! July update coming next...
