For the most part, we have really enjoyed our apartment. It has saved us so much money during these years of residency, and we have been really grateful for it.
But I just have to take a few seconds to list a few things I won't miss once we're in our new home.
* The hotel-like hallways...
* The TRASH ROOM - not pictured b/c you might throw up.
* The spots and tire-tracks on the carpet (not from us, I promise!)
* Sharing the laundry room with... how should I say this... people who really like to cook with curry?
In all honesty, I WILL miss doing 5 loads of laundry at the same time, then drying them all at once, and folding them all together. 5 loads can get done start to finish (folded and put away) in under 3 hours.
Back to things I won't miss...
* Being on the 3rd floor with neighbors above, below, and on both sides of us.
* The elevator that often smells like B.O., cigarettes, weed, or occasionally, urine.
(I got to give it credit though--it taught my 3 oldest kids how to spell UP and DOWN at early ages.)
* The fights (and awkward moments with neighbors that are different from us) that occur in the elevator. Lots of great stories from this little space.
You've been good to us, little apartment. We have some great memories from living here, but we're excited to move out and live in a HOUSE! By the time this posts, we will be on the road!! ADIOS!!

How exciting! So happy for you! A house makes a difference. We are bursting out of our small rental house. Hopefully next year we will have our own place!! CONGRATS!

oh wow. sounds like you've been living the life. i don't know why you would choose a house over all that apartment has to offer. especially when your clothes can smell like curry for free! people PAY to have their clothes smell like curry! i'm sure you will miss your apartment complex dearly (as we did when we left the luxurious Lofts) but the house will have one or two things to offer that the apartment didn't. ; )

I think that doing the 5 loads of laundry in 3 hours is something that will be greatly missed. I have fun with all of the new adventures that lay a head.
Yeah! So happy for you to leave the apartment behind...you deserve the luxury of having your own home.
So sad I missed your park day and seeing you before you left! Good luck with the moving and things in So Cal! That's so exciting you got a house.

Well, a huge congrats to Tyler for finishing the long slog. That was a very nice report, with two exceptions: (1) WHERE are you going? and (2) does this mean you have to change the blog name to So Cal Nelsons? Inquiring minds want to know . . . .
