My sister-in-law had a baby on Sunday. She updated her blog with her baby's pictures that will melt your heart. Browsing through her pictures tonight made me want to cry that Shannon is 10 months old today. In case I haven't said it before, I will state it here for the record: newborns are my favorite. I wish that first month could last a year. End of story.
So... even though I need to journal about our new life in So Cal,
and even though my house is on the verge of looking like an episode of hoarders,
and even though I should probably be helping Tyler put away groceries,
I just had to stop and write down what my baby is like today--at 10 months.
Shannon absolutely adores Whitney. Whitney loves to be the one to get Shannon out of her crib after a nap, and Shannon loves greeting Whitney with smiles and babbling. I love their little friendship.
Shannon is a waving maniac. Hard to get a picture of it, but she waves hello and goodbye!
And, yes, that is a smudge on our carpet after living there just 2 weeks. Reminder: "I love my kids, I love my kids, I love my kids..."
The baby walks. Around 9.5 months, she took her first "steps" just on her own. Crawled to the middle of the floor and then took 1 daring step to our hearth. I was doing dishes and watching her from the kitchen, and I couldn't believe that she would have the audacity to start walking without my help!
She kills me. For the first week, she'd crawl to where she wanted, and then when she was about a foot away from her destination, she'd stand up and walk the last step or two. This past week she just keeps adding another step to her "record" from the day before. She got up to 11 steps tonight!!
Since she's on a roll feeling like a big girl, she's been tapering out nursing. I only nurse her in the morning for a few minutes, and then she's done for the day. This has happened with all of my kids around 10-ish months. I guess they just know when they're done!
So since she's not nursing that much, she instead eats more of our real food. Her 3.5 teeth are doing the job chomping through Chicken Divan, BBQ Chicken Salad, Pop Chips, and even the pumpkin muffins that we made to celebrate her 10 month mark today...
Oh we love this little baby. As much as I adore brand newborns, this really is a great age too. I feel like she is learning, growing, and changing daily. She's an amazing sponge that I have the privilege of raising. What a blessing to have her in our family.

So sweet! I can't believe she's walking!! I just looove the special bond between siblings...how fun for Whit and Shannon to have that special little connection right now. Thanks for all your sweet comments...It really is just pure heaven having a newborn around...especially when my other two are completely taken care of by grandma!

I am dying here! I cannot believe our babies are 10 months! I miss this cute girl so much. I cannot believe she is walking and has so many teeth! I want to jump on a plane this second and give her a big snuggle!
She is absolutely adorable! It was always so fun to see how much she had grown from month to month during our visits. I can't believe she is already walking! I am excited to here more about your adventures at your new place!
