It started out with me "getting organized at home" for Christmas while Tyler took the 4 kids to the mall. He also took the kids to see Chip-wrecked (Tyler despises the chipmunks, so I know it was a labor of love to go there!). Whitney told me afterward, "It was probably the best movie I've ever seen." I loved having a few hours to myself to wrap presents and just have some quiet time. It was lovely.
Then they came and picked me up and we all went to Cafe Rio for dinner. YUM!
It was a great restaurant to go to with the kids because it was so empty! We love to patronize our Cafe Rio out here because we don't want it to go out of business.
It's not mom's birthday without the cookie cake... a once a year treat...
"Moo moo" is our family's term of endearment. Whitney & Cole coined the term when they saw someone kissing once. So lips put together and saying "Moo moo" in our family means you love them. Kind of weird, but I guess that's what we are! :)
After dinner, Tyler took us to a special street that has some great displays of Christmas lights! It's a birthday tradition that I've enjoyed since I was a little girl, and I'm so glad Tyler keeps the tradition up.
Every home in this historical district of the city was decked out! One house had the hugest train track filling their whole front yard, another home had a church choir on risers on the front lawn, others had live nativities. We loved it!
This smile on Cole's face wasn't forced at all...
Tyler said as we were driving home, "You know... seeing the Christmas lights is kind of like exercising... I don't want to do it, but after I do, I always feel good." Thanks for keeping the tradition alive, honey! I love seeing all the lights, and I appreciate you researching great neighborhoods for us to see!
Sunday morning the kids woke me up with breakfast in bed (I will not post the scary pics), and 32 little love notes. Just a few of my favorites are below:
Then we headed off to church.
Then we headed off to church.
A great birthday, for sure!! :)
