How could I forget to post about our Halloween?! Here are the highlights:
Our friends invited us to their pirate party, and the decor was insane. They had decked out their whole house--basement included--with ridiculous details, and sadly these are the only 2 pictures I got:
Look at that handsome scallywag in the red shirt at the head of the table!
We carved pumpkins!! I want to kiss who(m?)ever invented these stickers.
Annie was the only kid who wanted to use the stickers. We loved just cutting out the design and being done. It was great!
Whitney was a champ digging right into her pumpkin--loved the guts and collecting pumpkin seeds,
but she had the hardest time deciding what to carve on the face of it. She eventually had Tyler help her design some eyes and she designed some buck teeth.
Cole was totally disgusted by the guts & seeds, but he was a champ just jumping in and drawing, then carving a face with his own design! Here are the pumpkins from oldest to youngest:
Lucky Shannon got Tyler's free-handed spooky ghost drawing for her design!
The kids were thrilled with their lit up pumpkins and loved warming up by them:
The next night we went to the High School for their "Trick or Treat Street," and had to take some scary pictures before leaving.
Oh my word. It was so cute. But this was the only picture I got:
Just imagine hallways and hallways of different-themed places: Disneyland, Harry Potter, Charlie Brown, Wizard of Oz, the Lorax, glowstick land... I was totally impressed with these cute high school kids making the night so fun for the little kids.
There were craft booths, cookie decorating stations, and of course people handing out candy--some with themes: licorice sticks at Hogwarts for "wands", and the Queen of Hearts making you draw a card to see how many pieces of candy you got. They were all dressed up in character with their theme-land, and I just wanted to hug these teenagers. It was pretty sweet how much thought & effort they put into making that night special.
Halloween night was pretty routine! We had done lots of picture taking from Disneyland to that point that I figured I'd give them the night off from posing for mom.
Don't forget about the sugar high the day after!!
Annie got Shannon's candy bag down for her while I was in the shower. I cracked up when I saw this girl holding her stash. One lollipop just isn't enough!
