Valentine's Day is so much fun. Last year while I was in my 1st trimester and feeling nauseated all the time, I hardly did anything. This year I got into the spirit of the holiday.
My sister found the idea of making valentines out of pictures of the kids pretending to hold lollipops. (I'm sure lots of you have seen it too!) We had a great time making them, and at 6 cents a print, it was too cheap to pass up! We turned these pictures...
...into these treats.
My sister's kids are so easy to take pictures of and great about smiling for the camera.
I'm hoping that maybe if I post these pictures, my sister will be inspired to post the real pictures that she used for their valentines on her blog! (hint hint, sis!)
The Sunday night before V-day, we made sugar cookies. I gave each of the kids their own blob of dough to roll out, sneeze on, pick at, and destroy. I made my own sterile cookies in the kitchen. Whitney was the only one who cared enough to go the extra mile and actually put her cut-outs on the tray to be baked... hence the snowman and ying-yang cookies below.
The kids started off the morning in a frenzy of shouting "HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!" while throwing their valentines at each other in the hallway. A little bit chaotic, but cute... I think.Whitney bought Airheads with her own money and carefully made valentines for all of us. I've gotta show you mine:
In case there was any confusion on who "mom" was:
And here's the back:
In that little heart taped on the front was a "coupon" that said:
Oh I cracked up when I read that. She is too much.
We ate the traditional heart-healthy breakfast (ha ha)...
and worked on some crafts while Whitney was at school:
Cole was pretty proud of his valentine ghost that he colored and cut out all by himself.
My most darling valentine of all brought home dinner... California Pizza Kitchen! (Whitney was at gymnastics)
Tyler knows the way to this lady's heart... CPK's BBQ Chicken Salad. YUM!!!!!!!
I really think I could eat that for dinner for a year and never get sick of it. My favorite!!
And Tyler wrapped up the night with the best V-day gift of all--the gift of TIME! Really a sacrifice from someone who has so little of it to spare.

Sometimes I read your blog and think how fun it would be to live close to you guys. I think Aaron and Tyler would really get along. And . . . well . . . I'd sure love to see more of you too.
That Whitney is a sweetheart! "give this to me when I am grouchy and I will change."
And love that pic with Tyler and the kids. Annie has such a concerned look for that grouchy ladybug!
I'm with Mary on all her comments. I was about to write the exact same things. Also, Tyler is such a good dad.
Fun valentine's day traditions. Thanks for sharing - I loved seeing pictures of everyone - but I missed not seeing any pictures of you Natalie.
I love reading your blog updates. You have the cutest family, and you always give me a good laugh! Ok, I want to know where you have Whitney in gymnastics at and if you like the place. I want to get Baylee back into gymnastics. Let's get together sometime too!
You are always SO sweet to comment on my blog! I think you and one of my cousins are the two people that make me feel so good! I am terrible at leaving comments, but it really is so fun to get them! So thanks!
I loved your Annie Scissorhands post! She's a cute one! And I got to see your valentine cards live at your mom's house while Heidi (so fun to see that girl)was in town! They were so cute and I laughed so hard that Annie was holding two treats!!
Those lollipop cards are awesome! You did a terrific job with those. So very fun! You went all out on the other crafts and activities of the day. I love getting into the holidays with the kids too. Candice D. inspired me on that one. She's so festive.
I LOVED catching up on your happenings. Seeing the reading pic of Tyler touched my heart. You're almost done. What a victory!
Oh, and P.S., it was so very fun to see how your sister's kids are growing. They were delightful to photograph way back in the day.
