Cole has become obsessed with the camera--always begging to use mine, pose for a picture, or jump in front of my lens to become the focal point of my picture.
He still loves his "relaxin" pose--this is from Tyler's iphone one day when we were at Costco:
Cole is really into accessorizing himself these days. His latest favorites are: his shark hat, baseball batting gloves, colar shirts, silky shorts, zip-up ties (must have forgotten that on the day this picture was taken) and brown loafers.
This summer I tried to teach my kids more classical music. We downloaded a cd called "the top 50 best classical songs of all time" or something like that from itunes. It has provided countless hours of entertainment from dancing to drawing. A couple different days I would put a song on repeat and then ask the kids to draw what they were imagining. Here are some of Cole's:
Cole told me this one above is of George Washington playing the violin with some guy playing the piano.
And isn't this what you always picture when listening to the classic Canon in D?
Here is the "Master of the Desert" (the guy with the goatee) coming to Swan Lake where Angler Fish, Giant Squids, and Blue Whales reside with pyramids.
This song "Habanera" really is in the movie Up:
Except I don't think the old grandpa in that movie is passing gas like Cole depicted...
This one is actually called string quintet. Whoops. If you don't know this song, click here because it might make you smile as you picture Cole's mariachi band playing it.
I love his love for drawing.
Yesterday at church Cole was asked to say the scripture in primary during opening exercises. I walked in the room just as he finished reading the scripture and then asked everyone to repeat it. When he heard no one repeating the verse, he yelled into the microphone, "I SAAAaaaiiiiiiDDDDD, PLEASE REPEAT!!!"
Oh I was laughing so hard tears were flowing.
**warning--do not read the rest of this post if you get queesy looking at bloody pictures. Cole's toe got hurt in July, and I want to document it... and you know I can't document things w/o pictures.**
On Saturday July 30th, I was upstairs with Shannon, and Tyler was in our bedroom doing his pull-up bar. All of a sudden we heard THE most frightening scream coming from outside. Whitney, Cole, & Annie were screaming as if an Indian Chief had just hopped our fence and scalped all 3 of them. Seriously.
I yelled to Tyler that I would check it out and then ran downstairs just as Annie was running inside trying to find Tyler. She was yelling, "DAD! COLE'S DEAD!!! Cole's DEAD!!!!" A big piece of wood (that I had set up outside as a pinewood derby-like track for him to play his cars on) had crashed on his toe. :( I felt awful.
Cole was standing in a small pool of blood screaming so loudly that I thought for sure the neighbors were calling 9-1-1. I quickly comforted Cole as calmly as I could and told him that dad would take care of his foot. Then I yelled for Tyler to come help me out.
Tyler later told me that he felt a little bit nauseated as he took Cole to our kitchen sink to assess the damage. Since our health insurance hadn't kicked in yet, we knew we couldn't afford a trip to the E.R. We decided it'd be best if Tyler took Cole over to his dental office and take care of his foot there. Tyler called his dad (a family physician) to ask about antibiotics and his uncle (an oral surgeon) to see if he could help him out at the office.
Tyler's sweet cousin, Maddie, came and watched the girls while Tyler & I took Cole over to the dental office. Long story short... Tyler (and his uncle) gave Cole something to lightly knock Cole out while Tyler removed a tiny chip of bone and sewed up his toe with about 4-5 stitches.
Cole was cracking us up as the anesthesia was wearing off. He grogily said, "Dad... Did you feel the Holy Ghost when Zack dropped the bowling ball on your toe?" Along with the prayer we said with him on our drive over to Tyler's office, we also shared experiences with Cole about when we both had had nails come off. So I think that's where his rambling was coming from.

Anyway, here's Cole putting on a brave face before getting knocked out.
And that's our home-made paper towel bandage we made to transport him from home to the office.Below is the entire nail that Tyler removed during "surgery"
Here's his toe a day or two after the incident. We were keeping a band-aid and gauze around the area, so there wasn't a lot of air getting to it. That moisture caused the white raisin-like area around the toe. Sick. That white string in the middle is a stitch holding the top part of his toe together.
And here is Cole's toe on the left next to Tyler's purple toe. Tyler had banged his toe at basketball, so they took this picture together.
Cole's toe is getting better every day. His nailbed is starting to grow back little by little. He was a little traumatized by the event....asking me to never set up a pinewood derby track for him again and being more cautious around things.
He's also been quick to remind his sisters to be careful. I overheard him telling Whitney the other day, "Don't let that fall on you, Whitney, or you'll have to go to the dentist!" :)

Hope you are adjusting well with your move.
Poor Cole... I remember Tyler telling me about his toe...ouch, ouch ouch.
Love his pictures...quite the artist and is into classical music...way cool.
How is Cole liking kindergarten?
We're so sorry to hear about Cole's toe! Well, the girls are more fascinated, but they are sorry for him. That's hysterical that he's warning people about the dentist! So, do they not repeat scripture in your new Primary?
