I think Shannon gets the bulk of the attention on the blog these days because she's at that age where she's getting such a personality and changing daily.
She & Annie play most of the day together, and Shannon loves it... even when Annie stuffs her hoodie full of toys.
The girls have played out in the baby pool together a few times. Going to the neighborhood pool with all the kids by myself is too stressful for me right now, so this baby pool is just perfect!
As much as I miss and mourn the loss of my SLR camera, I have to admit, it's been handy having my little point & shoot camera with me in my purse all the time. I've been able to capture little moments like these where Shannon thinks she's one of the big kids at the park.
Just collecting the pine cones and setting up shop under the play area like she owns the place.
Right after Easter, I noticed a red dot on the side of Shannon's head. I took a picture of it with the intent of emailing it to my sister to ask her if she thought it was a hemangioma like her daughter had (which has since completely faded!).
A couple weeks later, it grew some more...And last week, this is what it looked like:
I think it's even bigger now, because it doesn't seem to stop growing!! I've heard that a hemangioma can fade with time, but usually the birthmarks are present at (or around) birth. Anyone out there in blog land ever seen something like this that shows up after 18 months?
As I did a little bit of research online, I found some really sad/gross-looking hemangiomas out there. Shannon could have it SOOO much worse, and I'm grateful this little siamese twin is growing on the side of her head, and not somewhere else where it could affect her vital senses. It really could be so much worse!
Shannon still loves her binky. I should probably feel guilt or something because I think
you're supposed to take away the binky at a year? But I've come to
realize that the binky brings both Shannon and me happiness. And 2
binkies = double happiness.
One more thing... Her hair is now long enough to have pony tails (PLURAL!!!!)
We love you Shanny-girl!

She is darling and I love when they can start wearing the palm tree pig tails!
I have a red mole (at least that's always what I've called it) on my chest between "my ladies" that I've had for as long as I can remember (it looks similar to the second picture you posted). It doesn't get any bigger or cause problems (although my kids ask me all the time what it is). I've just never worried about it, but with all the skin tech out there these days I'm sure they have a treatment to remove it. My guess is she's totally fine, it just comes down to whether it bothers her/you enough to want it removed or something. Another adventure in the parenthood!
PS - sorry to hear about your camera. :( If it makes you feel better, I have made many a sacrificial offering to the camera gods over the past 8 years my kids have roamed around me. I too have resorted to keeping a less expensive camera in my purse for trips I just don't want to lose my nice camera on or for spontaneous moments. I have to say, I got an iPhone a few months ago and it takes really good pictures! Probably just as nice as my point and shoot - so I've really just been using that now. If you have to buy both a cell phone and a camera, totally worth just getting one that does both.
I got two hemangiomas during my pregnancy with KK. One on my face by the side of my mouth, and one on my arm near my wrist. I had them both removed. I still have one on my stomach. It probably needs to get removed as well. I removed the one on my arm because it was very sensitive and bled constantly. The one on my face continued to grow at a fast rate *plus it made me very self conscious*. I would have it removed eventually if it begins to bleed or grows.
What a cutie she is! :)
Love that girl!!! Give her a kiss for me! xoxo
Love the Shannon Snapshot! Kiss her for her aunty!
She is just dang cute.
Of all people, I will offer the most empathy about the camera. So sorry your SLR is gone...just means you'll have to get another one. :)
Mimi has an "angel kiss" that appeared a few days after she was born. It has faded over the years but is still present. I'd keep an eye on Shannon's red spot. Looks different than what Mimi has. I do like how chill you are about its appearance though...could be worse.
Love, love, love that Annie and Shannon play together. Girls are the best. I'd take 20 more if I could. Go girl power!
The kiddy pool is a great way to go. I plan on buying one for this summer for the same reason. Just the thought of going to the YMCA pool with all the kids by myself give me heartburn.
Love you Nat!
