Day in L.A. - part 1 of 2

Tyler had a Tuesday off, so he asked me what the plans were. I told him that we HAD to start packing, but he brushed that aside and decided we needed to experience L.A. instead.

So experience L.A. we did! We took the kids over to the Getty Museum, and I wasn't sure what to expect. All I told the kids was that this was a REALLY famous museum that dad & I had never been to. Cole said, "Well if it's so famous, how come you've never seen it?" My only response was, "Have you ever heard of the Statue of Liberty? ... But it's so famous; how come you've never visited it?" We had a good talk about how sometimes you just don't get around to doing things unless you make a goal to do them.

Anyway, the kids did really well considering there were alarms on every single painting. Thankfully we didn't set any of them off! We loved all the biblical paintings.
Did you know that every painting at the museum is an original?! Hence the alarms & guards everywhere, Natalie!! Duh!

We stopped outside to eat some raisins for a minute and to enjoy the beautiful day.
Next thing we know, Geoffrey Zakarian (from the Food Network) was strolling by!!!
After seeing a REAL Hollywood star, our day was complete! Almost...

We went back inside another building and saw some Van Gogh:
Tyler could have spent 3 days here!
My favorite painting was this one below called "Allegory of Fortune." I got this pic off the internet, and I edited it for my blog to keep things G rated.
Click HERE to open a new window if you want to learn what the Getty has to say about it.

We went out on a balcony to enjoy the views...
And the kids begged to use the camera...
So we let them take 10 shots each, and we got some winners. I'll spare you all of them..
Obviously they were getting a little loopy, so we figured it was time to go outside again & enjoy the gardens.
We were so glad we saw the Getty before we left So Cal. What a lovely place!

And did I mention it was FREE--even the stroller rental!?!?!? Woo-hoo!! (except for $15 parking)
