Cole

Cole is doing well here in Colorado so far. He loves having a bigger room to play in (his last one was a pretty small loft-like room). He loves that it was already painted blue for him. And he loves that it has a lock on the door so his sisters won't invade his legos that are always set up in mid-action play.
After we told him that we were moving to Colorado, Cole said, "Oh good, then I won't have to sit by Michael at school anymore." I asked him why he was excited to move away from Michael, and Cole replied, "Because Michael says inappropriate words."

I asked Cole what he would do if someone in his new class in Colorado said bad words, and Cole thought about it. He sighed and said, "Well... we'll just have to move to Germany then!" ha ha ha!

One day he made his own Batman costume: (Mom, will you take my picture?!)
We weren't having much luck with Cole staying dry through the night, so we got an alarm for Cole to wear after things settled from our move. I'm happy to report that the alarm has definitely helped train his bladder & brain to work together at night. He's been doing awesome!!
Cole's favorite thing to do is walk the fence & check in on our neighbors. I don't know what is scarier... Cole walking on the fence or how nasty the wood on our fence looks...
On the first day of school, Cole came home with this worksheet about his day. I was laughing at how his mind couldn't complete the worksheet without adding some Lego Ninjago flare to it...
...and I asked Cole what #9 on there meant. "100 % happy," was his translation.

I love that Cole's teacher lets him draw when they have extra time. I remember using these blocks in school, but I don't remember turning them into Angry Birds.
I went to work in Cole's classroom the other day, and I saw these two things hanging on the wall outside of Cole's class. The laughing eyes he drew on his bee cracked me up!
Another thing he brought home was this mini-book with these 2 mice throughout. Cole enhanced the pictures by making one Mario & the other Luigi.
And I loved this little Sonic he drew the other day!
I do want to state for the record that Cole hasn't played video games for easily over 6 months (our wii broke). He's never played a Sonic game--only read the books from the library.

Speaking of which, a couple months ago (when we were living in So Cal) Cole came running into me and said, "MOM!!! Annie just showed me her flanks!!!" I must have looked confused because he pointed to his buns to clarify. Come to find out, Cole was going into the bathroom as Annie was coming out of the bath, and he got freaked out.

But I pulled him aside later and said, "Cole, where did you learn that word?!" And he said, "Michael taught me at school." I didn't understand how Michael could have taught him that word--when would they have a chance to use that word in context at school? I prodded him a little and then I said I'd talk to Michael's mom (I knew I'd see her at the baseball fields later).

Then Cole started to cry. He confessed that he actually read the word in a Sonic the Hedgehog book from the library. He had been scared to tell the truth because he didn't want to lose the privilege of checking out those books anymore.

So next time we went to the library, I told him to show me the book where he learned the word. He went right to it, and I got a good laugh:
That kid has a great memory!

One more story that I don't want to forget....

We were driving around the other day, and Cole said, "Mom, Can we go to Utah and eat at J-Dawgs for my birthday?"

I said, "No, we're not going to Utah for your birthday... we're going somewhere else really special!" :) :)

And Cole said, "Oh YEAH, I remember... St. Lucia!!"

Oh I cracked up! He saw Wheel of Fortune ONE TIME on a desperate night when I turned on the TV for the kids so I could make dinner. (It was the only thing on besides the news!) Cole saw the contestant win a trip to St. Lucia, and it obviously stuck!

I have no idea what made him think we would ever go there. What a bummer to tell him that we were going to Disneyland for his birthday instead of St. Lucia!!! ha ha ha ha.
