By our 5th day at Disneyland, we were feeling pooped, but we kept plugging along! We met up with some of our old So Cal friends in the morning and had a great time catching up with them.
We went and saw the princesses while the big kids rode the Matterhorn. Cole opted to come with us (again!), and I was excited to see if I could be smarter than my camera and avoid the bad shadows I had gotten in our princess shots a few days before.
Yay for Shannon running up for big hugs again!
I was letting him play some games while we waited in line, and he figured out how to change it to the camera setting and LITERALLY took 235 pictures of Shannon with the princesses. It was like he was clicking the rapid fire button or something!
Around lunch time we said goodbye to our friends (the boy in the red was in Whitney's 2nd grade class)
We told the kids that we were ready to go and asked everyone what their final request was.
Mostly everyone said Thunder Mountain Railroad (even though we had ridden it at least 15 times that week!). Whitney's final request was "Splash Mountain with mom." I thought that was cute till we were waiting in line and she was telling me how excited she was to see our picture taken on the ride because I always have throw up faces on the fast rides. Awesome!!
We had a fun one-on-one time though! We sat at the back of the boat, and the people in front of us blocked all the water and my barf face for the camera--double bonus!! :)
Tyler got to ride the baby rides!
My final request was a Dole Whip (pineapple frozen yogurt) that I had never tried and lots of people had told us about. It was tasty, and we all shared it while in the Tiki Room (our first and last time going to that place. The kids weren't impressed and we all thought it was a little bizarre!)
We left Disneyland around dinnertime and checked into a different hotel by the airport. Before checking in though, we decided to eat our final meal out at In-N-Out--Tyler's heaven. On the way there, Annie barfed all over the rental car. Probably a combo of too many Disney rides, too much riding in the car, and too much Goofy candy?
We were so glad to crash at our hotel that night and say goodbye to Disneyland. As fun as it was, we realized that next time we go, we don't have to spend an entire week there. I think if we go again, we'll get 2 day passes with the 1/2 day Halloween Party. That would have been just right, we think. But we were also there meeting up with old friends and such, so that made it great to see people as well.
Overall, it was a great vacation--5 stars! We're grateful we were able to make some fun memories down there.
