1) "A Christmas Carol" GNO
2) Parade of Lights with our friends from California (who had recently moved to CO)
We were in awe at how everyone incorporated lights not only onto their floats, but onto their costumes, pets, and accessories as well.
We even saw Ramone & Flo all decked out for the parade too!
3) Visiting Santa at the mall on a random Tuesday
Am I lame for not forking over the $40 to buy their photo package? I just stood behind the designated line and snapped a pic with my phone from the sidelines.
Since literally no one else was around, Santa took his precious time with these girls... asking with amazing detail which American Girl Doll Annie wanted and knowing who Kit and McKenna were.
When he asked Shannon what she wanted she kind of froze up and said, "Elmo book!" It CRACKED me up because it totally reminded me of "A Christmas Story" where Ralphie freezes up and doesn't ask for the bee-bee gun he really wants. Shannon hasn't shown an interest in Elmo for a year. I have no idea where "Elmo book" came from!
They seriously sat on Santa's lap for over 15 minutes. I was even trying to hint to Santa that it was time to go, but he just kept holding on to them talking on and on and on to them. Pretty precious!
4) School stuff
This gingerbread man below was one of those projects that said, "You have 2 weeks to make a gingerbread man. Have your kid be as creative as possible..." Cole comes home the first day after receiving his assignment and insists that his gingerbread man will be Kai from Ninjago. I gave him twenty different craft supplies from glitter to googly eyes to beads to cereal to choose from, and he wouldn't have anything to do with my ideas. Cole did a great job on his own, of course. Who needs mom's help?
Annie's first day of preschool!
She was beyond excited that I finally let her out of home prison and into a classroom setting. I think it's going to be good for her to learn proper school behavior in preparation for kindergarten.
Another aspect of school stuff in December was doing teacher gifts. All of the items on this table were from the dollar store (except the candy & nuts we filled them with):
So easy using ideas from the '90s that I remember my mom receiving at Christmas time!!
I was told by quite a few teachers that the pistachios were a welcome break from all the candy and goodies they were receiving.
5) Sick kids
Everyone took their turn with a nasty stomach bug this month. Shannon's bout was the worst... with what I can only describe as diarrhea coming out of her mouth. We've dealt with our fair share of barfing from that kid, but NOTHING on this earth can describe the horror that came out of her mouth a few times while she had that bug.
Oh and let's not forget that her first diarrhea barf came while at my sis-in-law's pristine house while celebrating our bro-in-law's birthday. Super awesome.
6) Playing with Christmas toys
Nothing sweeter than your baby saying, "feed da baby desus" all on her own...
...and looking like a freaky Chucky doll while she does it.

that parade of lights looks awesome! I'm with you on the crazy expensive Santa pictures. in fact Wes didn't even sit on Santa, we walked in line he said "no, no mom" and we turned and walked away, ha ha. Shannon feeding baby Jesus is too cute!
Thanks for making me laugh so hard!
You have got to stop being so funny in these posts. I managed to wake up both my husband AND baby when I cracked up. Then again, maybe I shouldn't be reading blogs during 2 AM feedings. :)
Great update Nats! Looks like you had a great first 1/2 of December. Sorry to hear you were sick. Love your teacher gift ideas (I would pin those if they were on Pinterest for sure). Hard to believe we haven't seen your family for a year now - sad but true. We miss you all.
Love this update!! Once again, cracking me up! So sick/sad about Shanny's diarrhea from the mouth! What an amazing parade of lights...and loving your gifts. Especially the nuts. Stealing that for zure!
Annie's long big girl legs are killing me. She forgot she was supposed to still be a little thing. An Shannon feeding baby Jesus is about the sweetest thing ever. Your beautiful sweet children bring sunshine to my soul. Lots of love to you guys.
